Book Club Meeting

A local Book Club invited me to their monthly meeting on Feb. 18th. The members had purchased and read "Forging Ahead for God:Percy Wills Pioneer Missionary" in preparation for discussion and questions.

There were many positive comments made about Percy Wills's faith in God to provide all his needs for his family and the work he was doing on the west coast of Vancouver Island, B.C.
Some of the members had sailed on the Pacific coast of the island and spoke of the heavy seas that can suddenly appear. They then related their experience of those seas in a modern ship to Percy's sailing in a 32-ft. boat without the current navigational instruments available.

The host had prepared a list of questions to stimulate discussion. The main discussion began with a question about what kind of faith is required to live with the same trust in God that Percy Wills had. It was understood that faith is required for salvation. The question seemed to revolve around how one develops that kind of faith. The discussion was lively, with several view points offered.
