Percy's Faith in God

Percy's life of faith, as told in this book, is relevant to us who live in this difficult economic climate in 2011. The God who provided so well for him, our family, the missionaries who also lived this life of faith, is the same One who can provide for us today.

That One is Jesus Christ, the Lord, who created and sustains the universe, including our earth, and every one who lives on it. Those who trust in Him to forgive their sins are given new spiritual life and insight.

Percy began his mission to the West Coast of Vancouver Island, B.C., in 1930. He began his work only months after the big stock market crash in late 1929. That event sparked The Great
Depression that lasted for almost a decade.

Jobs were very scarce, and many were out of work. People often bartered among themselves for what they needed. My grandmother gave a man room and board in exchange for painting her house.

In those years when money was tight, Percy believed that God would provide what was needed for him and our family while he was away on the coast. God did provide, and funds for living expenses, fuel and maintenance for the boat, supplies for the doctor, his family, and the hospital, all came, sometimes at the last moment. Moreover, Percy was able to help many of the families on the coast with donated clothing as he went from village to village.

After he retired from the missionary work, God continued to guide Percy throughout the remainder of his life.
